Weekend Classes for Grades 1 - 4
This new program for first through fourth grade students gives your child the chance to expand their science learning! These exciting classes last 2 hours and include engaging hands-on experiments and an experience in the California Science Center. All classes are facilitated by Science Center educators.

Exploring Light
Explore why we see different colors as you do experiments with light and color mixing. Find out about the inner workings of the eye and how light and color are related.
Morning Session (1st and 2nd Grade): 10 AM-12 PM
Afternoon Session (3rd and 4th Grade): 1 PM-3 PM

Exploring Structures
Investigate the different ways that engineers construct structures. Then, design your own bridge and see how much weight it can hold!

General Information
These programs are located in the Air & Space Discovery Room. All classes last 2 hours. Plan on arriving at the California Science Center 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time to accommodate the short walk to the Air & Space Gallery.
Class size will be limited to 20 children per class.

$20 for Members*

All participants must be pre-registered.
Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be issued. In the event that a class is cancelled by the California Science Center, we will make arrangements for your child to enroll in another class or refund your money.

Where is the Junior Scientist's Lab?
The Little Scientist's Lab is located in the Wallis Annenberg Building. The Wallis Annenberg Building is located on the East Side of the Rose Garden. All children will be meet in the lobby.
Can I drop off my child?
Yes, we encourage children to work independently for the Junior Scientist's Lab program.
Does my child need to bring anything?
No, all supplies will be provided. You may bring a snack if necessary.
How much is parking?
Parking in Exposition Park is $8 per car. Limited street parking is available around the park.
What can siblings or other family members do when the students are in the Junior Scientist's Lab?
Additional programs are offered on Science Saturdays for preschool and kindergarten children and family members of all ages. The Little Scientist's Lab classes takes place at the same time as the Junior Scientist's Lab.
In addition, the California Science Center is free and open from 10 AM to 5 PM.
