Leave the Earth behind as you explore the stars, space and beyond! From take-off to the far reaches of outer space, discover what we know and what science is being used to figure it out. After this class, you’ll never look at the sky the same way again! A field trip to the Griffith Observatory will be included in this class.

Lights... camera... action, and all controlled by you on your very own computer! Explore the science of 3D animation and create animations synced to your very own soundtrack. You will learn all about animation principles and techniques, storyboarding, scriptwriting, sound editing and how to create and edit your own animated film exploring a scientific principle. Each participant will get to take home their very own DVD of the work they complete in class and the final day will feature a real film festival and premiere party for you to invite your own guests!

What do humans need to survive in the alien environment of space?  How does the body respond to the bizarre conditions away from the atmosphere?  Explore the problems faced by NASA scientists and astronauts trying to create a livable world far from our planet. This class is taught by the Science Center’s Aerospace Curator and Science Center educators.

Gravity - it's not just a good idea, it's the LAW! Learn about gravity and Newton's laws of motion as we explore the rules that govern the moving and shaking of everything around us. Our tools for this adventure will include rockets, tennis ball launchers, our 3-story drop tower, and other elements of the Big Lab. Class includes rocket launch on the last day of class.

Experiment with the properties of matter in this fun, and sometimes messy, class. Test different ingredients to uncover how chemical reactions work. You’ll create strange, gooey substances like oobleck, slime and gak.
