Urban Ecology…another frontier. Join the Science Center on a five-day mission to explore the strange world of Los Angeles. You will travel to a secret LA location to study the hidden natural world of America’s second largest city. Investigate the ways in which Angelenos get the resources we need and how we share the space with all kinds of animals. Become an Eco-Explorer!

The Science of 3-D Animation
Full Day!

Lights... camera... action, and all controlled by you on your very own computer! Explore the science of 3D animation and create animations synced to your very own sound track. You will learn all about animation principles and techniques, storyboarding, scriptwriting, sound editing and how to create and edit your own animated film exploring a scientific principle. Each participant will get to take home their very own DVD of the work they complete in class and the final day will feature a real film festival and premiere party for you to invite your own guests!

Want to be an astronaut? Find out what you’ll need to do to survive in the harsh environment of outer space. How will your body respond to zero gravity and speeding micrometeorites? Explore the problems faced by NASA astronauts and scientists trying to create a livable world outside our atmosphere. This class is taught by our Aerospace Curator and Science Center educators.

Gravity - it's not just a good idea, it's the LAW! Learn about today’s movers and shakers as you study Newton’s laws of motion. Our tools for this adventure will include rockets, tennis ball launchers, our 3-story drop tower, and other elements of the Big Lab. Rocket launch on the last day of class.
