Funnel
Challenge
Try
this fun challenge to learn more about air pressure!
You Will Need:
- A clean funnel
- A ping pong ball
Try This:
-
Place the ping pong ball into the funnel
-
Hold the funnel upright and blow through the bottom
to try to blow the ball out of the funnel.
What's
the Science?
This is another example of Bernoulli's principle at work
(see
explanation). When you blow through the funnel, the
air below and around the ball is moving very fast and
so has very low pressure. In comparison, the still air
on top of the ball has more pressure, and pushes the
ball down into the funnel. The harder you blow, the
harder the ball is pushed back into the funnel!

Pressure Cart in the Disney Court. |
