The
California Science Center and California State Science
Fair Board are putting a call out to former participants
in the California State Science Fair. The alumni
search will provide information on the chosen professions
of former State Science Fair participants and assist
in determining how many chose to pursue careers
in science and engineering.
Fair
alumni are asked to contact the Fair at (213) 744-7530.
If participants also have a personal Internet home
page, they are requested to send them to the Fair's
Web site at www.casciencectr.org/CSSF.
The personal home pages will be listed on the official
California Science Fair site.
It
is estimated that more than 20,000 students have
participated in the fair since its inception in
1952. Students, from throughout the state, qualify
at the county level and advance to compete in the
State Science Fair, hosted by the California Science
Center. Over 300 California scientists from private
industry and higher education judge Science Fair
entries in 18 subject-based categories.
California
State Science Fair celebrates its 50th year in 2001.
The next Fair is scheduled to take place at the
California Science Center and Natural History Museum
of Los Angeles County on May 21 and 22. More than
$40,000 in award prizes will be given to the winners.
