Save the Date!
16th Annual Discovery Ball
May 16, 2014
This year’s 16th Annual Discovery Ball will transport guests to an ancient city at the height of the Roman Empire. On Friday, May 16, 2014 the gala will feature the west coast premiere of Life and Death in Pompeii.
Over 150 precious artifacts set in their original surroundings, and full body casts of the volcano’s victims, reveal daily life in Pompeii before the epic eruption of Mount Vesuvius destroyed and preserved it nearly 2,000 years ago. Our distinguished co-chair Anne Shen Smith, Chairman and CEO of Southern California Gas Company invites you to save the date and join us to feast amidst the elegance of this city of legend brought to life.
Last year’s Discovery Ball reached an entirely new stratosphere! With sold-out tables and unprecedented gross revenue of $1.5 million, the galactic gala exceeded all expectations. We congratulate our 2013 Honorary Chair, Lynda Oschin and Co-Chairs, Raul Anaya and Michelle Kerrick on this stellar success made possible by our many generous supporters.
The Science Center’s annual gala has been recognized as one of Los Angeles’ premier philanthropic occasions, considered a “virtual who’s who of the Los Angeles business community” by the Los Angeles Business Journal and ranked 3rd among Southern California’s top 100 benefit events according to BizBash. Proceeds from the Discovery Ball help sustain model education programs and hands-on exhibits that make the California Science Center a world-class educational resource and family destination.
