Julie L. Hamilton

Counsel to the Los Angeles Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration

Julie Hamilton is Counsel to the Los Angeles Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration. In that capacity, she is responsible for all legal matters and issues concerning the division including criminal issues and legal training. Prior to joining the DEA, Ms. Hamilton worked for the United States Department of Justice in the National Security Division serving as the Attorney Advisor in New York City for counterterrorism investigations for over four years. After graduating from Law School, she spent the first 13 years of her legal career as a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in New York City. While there, Ms. Hamilton prosecuted over 50 felony trials to verdict in matters ranging from street crime to international narcotics trafficking. During her last five years at the DA’s Office, she served as Senior Investigative Counsel handling investigations into the criminal activities of the mafia. Her trial advocacy skills and expertise in working with law enforcement agents to bring complex criminal organizations to justice was recognized by the National College of District Attorneys for whom she was a frequent lecturer. Ms. Hamilton has also lectured to numerous state and federal prosecutors, as well as law enforcement agencies on a variety of subjects including eyewitness testimony.
