Allan Zaremberg
President and CEO of the California Chamber of Commerce
B.S., Economics, Penn State University
J.D., McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, where he was a member of the Law Journal
As President and CEO of the California Chamber
of Commerce, the largest broad based business organization
in California with almost 16,000 members, Allan Zaremberg has
worked to enhance the state's economic growth. In this endeavor,
he has led statewide ballot campaigns against anti-business
proposals and has successfully led balanced reforms of workers’ compensation
and endangered species laws. Citing potential economic harm,
Allan was a passionate and outspoken critic of a California
only law that capped carbon emissions required by California’s
new climate change legislation (AB 32). Instead, he advocated
a focus on global solutions, in particular the transfer of
cleaner, environmentally friendly technologies to countries
like China and India, and the implementation of tax credits
to spur adoption of energy-efficient business practices. Since
the passage of AB 32 Allan is seeking a fair and balanced implementation
that will encourage other states and countries to join with
California. Before joining the California Chamber of Commerce,
Zaremberg served as chief legislative advisor to and advocate
for Governors George Deukmejian and Pete Wilson.
