Dr.
Roughgarden is a renowned biologist who specializes in theoretical
ecology and evolution. A dedicated conservationist, she has
served on the Nonprofit Organization Board for the Oceanic
Society (San Francisco), the EPA Science Advisory Board Committee
on Valuating the Protection of Ecological Systems and Services,
and the Science Advisory Boards of the Pacific Ocean Conservation
Network (California) and the Channel Islands National Marine
Sanctuary (Santa Barbara), among other committees and councils.
She has published over one hundred research journal articles
and several ecology textbooks. In addition, Dr. Roughgarden
is the author of popular science books including Evolution's
Rainbow
,
for which she won the 2005 Stonewall Prize for nonfiction from
the American Library Association, and the recently released Evolution
and Christian Faith: Reflections of an Evolutionary Biologist
(Island
Press).
